Task
Description/Responsibilities: The Technical Writer
will be responsible for collecting information required for the preparation of
technical publications. Writing and
editing program status documents to ensure appropriate grammar and format. Preparing CDRL deliveries; updating or
writing HW/SW user manuals and training/course materials. Preparing
miscellaneous written text, providing editorial and integration functions;
coordinating layout and organization of document, obtaining and interpreting
data, drawings and specifications through research. Participating in formal reviews of
deliverable documents, and ensuring that documents meet editorial and
Government specifications as required.
Education: □
An AA Degree, or equivalent □
A High School Diploma or GED, plus 4 additional years of
related technical writing/editing experience will substitute for the AA Degree Experience: □
Minimum
4 years of related technical writing/editing experience in a systems engineering environment, writing
and editing technical documents, processes, and procedures □
Must possess excellent grammar and proofing skills Specific Experience
Requirements: q Required
(Essential Skills Exp): o
Proficient word processing skills on Macintosh and/or PC,
with excellent working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe
Photoshop, and either Visio or another drawing/graphics tool. q The following
knowledge and experience is highly desireable: o
Experience
as a Publications Editor. o
Authored
or was a Lead Writer for a software or hardware user manual, and/or has working
knowledge of Rational ClearCase or a similar version control tool. o
General
knowledge of document management and change/control management. Special
Requirements □
Candidates must be a “team player” and be
able to work extended hours if the need arises. □
Must be able to communicate in English, both orally and in
writing Security Clearance: q Current TS/SCI
