Task Description/Responsibilities:

The Communications Systems Engineer will be responsible for providing remote maintenance, troubleshooting and repair for a Wide Area Network (WAN) to include, routers, bridges, switches, Video Teleconferencing units, and VoIP systems from a Help Desk. Performing tests with multiple tech controls, implementing scheduled network upgrades to include router configurations, CISCO routers and switches, Communications link troubleshooting and circut outages, CSU/DSU's, and Modems and capturing customer Trouble Calls in a Remedy Trouble Ticket system.

Education:

· A High School Diploma or GED, plus 4 additional years of related technical experience

Experience:

· Minimum 4 years of related technical experience in a network environment

· Minimum of 2 years of experience performing network troubleshooting

Specific Experience Requirements:

· Required (Essential Skills Exp):

· Knowledge and experience with CISCO routers and switches, Communications link troubleshooting and circut outages, CSU/DSU's, and Modems.

· Experience with RAID Systems and tape backup systems

· The following knowledge and experience is highly desireable:

· Knowledge of Macintosh clients is a plus.

· Knowledge of TCP/IP, AppleTalk & Ethernet network protocols a plus.

Special Requirements

· Candidates must be able to lift 50 pounds for the floor to a desk, table top, or work bench

· Candidates must be able to provide infrequent on-call after hours support if the need arises

· Candidates must be willing to support a 6 AM to 6 PM work schedule

· Ability to write clear, concise problem descriptions and solutions using Remedy Trouble Ticket System.

· Must be able to communicate in English, both orally and in writing.

Security Clearance:

· Current TS/SCI Security Clearance required.
